About Newsbreaker II

The Evolution of Real-Time Intelligence Since 1996

HOME Comparison Technical Architecture Examples Our Heritage

Newsbreaker II is the modern successor to the award-winning Newsbreaker™ technology first launched in 1996. While the original Newsbreaker was a pioneer in using Java™ applets to deliver scrolling news to the world’s first browsers, Newsbreaker II is built for the era of Artificial Intelligence and instantaneous data synchronization.

Our mission remains unchanged from our founding in Santa Monica three decades ago: to provide functionality and utility through elegant software design. We believe that the power of the internet lies in its ability to serve as a source of actionable information.

Our History: From Mainframes to AI

A Sixty-Year Technical Legacy

The DNA of Newsbreaker II can be traced back long before the "WWW" became a household name. Our founder’s journey began in 1968 with the Find-a-Car Index in the UK, utilizing IBM mainframes and physical punch cards to create the world’s first searchable automotive database.

The "Ice to Eskimos" Era

In July 1994, we transitioned 100% of our focus to the World Wide Web. Before most businesses understood the value of an online presence, our founder was door-knocking in Santa Monica, explaining that they needed a "WWW" address — a task akin to "selling ice to Eskimos."

Validation by the Titans

Novell was the first major tech giant to adopt our technology, opening doors across Silicon Valley. This led to a client roster that included Motorola, Sprint PCS, Kaiser Permanente, Cisco, Sun Microsystems, and major government agencies including the United States Navy and the Veterans Administration.

Historic Milestones

1995: Launched Creative Contacts, one of the internet’s first interactive searchable professional directories.
1996: Released the original Newsbreaker Applet, earning four JARS awards including a rare Top 1% rating and "100% Pure Java" certification.
1997: Developed Citibase, a decentralized "Smart City" database adopted by the City of Santa Monica.
1998: Expanded into two-way communication systems for global news agencies like CBS Marketwatch and Itar TASS.
2026: Launch of Newsbreaker II — bringing AI-assisted logic and modern web protocols to continue our 60-year tradition.
